寝過ごした!

This is a commercial made as an entry for the CM Division of the 11th TOHO Cinemas Student Film Festival. It was, by the way, my first entry to a competition.

The festival’s theme that year was “clock.” With only that theme given, I felt it was a remarkably open assignment. What I came up with was the idea of “without it, with it.”

When advertising something, I think the key is to make people understand how it will change something about themselves. In the commercial, a main character who is about to be late for school imagines, on the way, all the things there would have been time to do after getting up early, and in the end it all turns out to be a dream.

By having viewers imagine a world without and a world with the fictional alarm clock “Monroe Clock,” I tried to express the appeal of this alarm clock.

By the way, “Monroe” is my nickname in ViCC, the filmmaking club I belong to (haha).

この作品は第11回TOHOシネマズ学生映画祭CM部門の応募用に制作したCM作品です。ちなみに、これは私の初応募作品です。

この時の映画祭のテーマは「時計」でした。そのテーマだけですので、ものすごく自由度の高い課題だなと思いました。私が考え出したものは「ない時、ある時」というものです。

何かものを宣伝する際、重要になってくるのは、それによって自分の何かがどう変わるかをわからせるということだと思います。CMの内容としては、学校に遅刻しそうになる主人公が学校に行きながら、早起きして本来やりたかったことをあれこれと思うというもので、最終的にそれは夢だったというもの。

架空の目覚まし時計「Monroe Clock」がない世界、ある世界を視聴者に想像させることで、この目覚まし時計の魅力を表現してみました。

ちなみに、Monroeは私の所属しているサークルViCC-映画をつくる会-での通り名です笑。
